José de Jesús Rivera

Mr. Rivera represents clients in the areas of plaintiff’s personal injury, civil rights violations, government liability, sexual abuse and child molestation, wrongful death, motor vehicle accidents, white-collar criminal defense, federal criminal practice, internal corporate investigations, election, voting and redistricting law, and representation of and against federal, state and local governments. He is fluent in Spanish. Mr. Rivera is a member of the Arizona and Gila River Indian Community Bar Associations.

Mr. Rivera served as the United States Attorney to the District of Arizona for three years before joining the firm in 2001. As US Attorney for Arizona, he was the chief federal law enforcement officer for the state and took a particular interest in civil rights, voting rights, and community outreach. He had broad experience as a federal prosecutor and in private practice before becoming US Attorney.

Mr. Rivera is rated “AV” by Martindale Hubbell. He was a member of the Board of Governors of the State Bar of Arizona from 1995 to 1998 and the Chair of the State Bar’s Appointments Committee from 1997 to 1998. A member of numerous civic and professional organizations, he has received numerous awards and commendations. He served as counsel to the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission and the Arizona Clean Elections Commission.
